Meet Dr. Morris

Dr. Amanda Morris grew up in Huntsville, Alabama, with strong personal connections to the Lowcountry. Her parents, Glenn and Carol, met and lived in Mt. Pleasant as newlyweds, and Charleston became a favorite family destination throughout her childhood.

She later moved to South Carolina to attend Wofford College, where she played Division I soccer while completing her undergraduate studies. During college, she was selected for an undergraduate research program at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) through the College of Dental Medicine. That opportunity brought her back to Charleston after graduation, where she continued her oral cancer research full time.

Dr. Morris earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, followed by a three-year residency in Periodontics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. There, she received both her Certificate in Periodontics and a Master of Science degree. Her graduate research on enamel proteins earned her national recognition as a finalist in the John F. Prichard Graduate Research Competition.

In 2021, Dr. Morris was named the national recipient of the Dr. and Mrs. Gerald M. Kramer Scholar Award for Excellence, one of the highest honors for graduating periodontists. She is board-certified in Periodontology and Dental Implant Surgery by the American Board of Periodontology.

Outside of the office, she enjoys running, spending time outdoors, traveling, and caring for her two rescue cats — both adopted from the Marion Square farmers market.
